The position supports U.S. DoD communications, electronics, and C4ISR field, to include electronic surveillance systems and secure communications systems. The candidate shall provide engineering, maintenance, and installation of US Navy communication systems listed herein. He/she shall possess comprehensive knowledge of DoD military specifications and standards including US Navy specifications and standards. The candidate is responsible for the review of engineering drawings to provide corrections for ‘as-built’ configurations. Designs, develops, documents, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts testing, troubleshooting, experimentation and analysis. Assist in the planning, testing, and evaluation of equipment. Responsibilities include the determination of test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures. Uses all types of test instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results and prepares oral or written reports and recommendations for the customer or site supervisor. Knowledge of HF, VHF and UHF communications and site surveys of these systems.

The candidate shall provide these engineering services in support of the following systems:

  • Land Mobile Radio (LMR)

  • KU-Band satellite transmitting/receiving

  • RF/Optical Equipment

  • SIWCS/HYDRA

  • WIFCOM (Wireless Comms)

  • WPCS

  • RT-5000 Systems

  • DoD Communications

  • Motorola Trunking Systems

  • RF Voice Networks

  • Electronics troubleshooting

Qualifications

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field of engineering or technology or completion of United States Navy or DoD technical schools.

  • Current SECRET clearance is required

  • Knowledge of RF and antenna systems

  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach and walk for extended periods of time.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read, evaluate, and execute installations and repairs based on shipboard blueprints

  • Four years relevant experience involving the engineering, design, maintenance and installation of C4ISR systems.

  • Knowledge and experience working with portable radio communications including programming handheld devices, testing and aligning repeaters.

  • Use of special communication test equipment

  • Working knowledge of USN communication technology

  • HF, VHF and UHF communication knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.

  • Working knowledge of USN 3M systems.
