Senior Network Engineer (Must have a Secret clearance)
P RIMARY FUNCTION
As a Network Engineer, monitor and manage the network for a Federal Government Wide Area Network supporting over 300 sites with approximately 16,000 users worldwide. The Network Engineer will be responsible for a diverse group of technologies that include: Cisco, VPN and WAN technologies, and various network routing/switching protocols.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide expertise, direction, and recommendations for all operational aspects of a worldwide WAN (including LAN segments) and all supporting hardware and software
Configuration and deployment of switching and routing hardware
Experience in network engineering, and planning is desired.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff
Requires Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering or related field) and two to four years of related experience
Must have 9 years of IT experience
Must have an active/current DOD Secret clearance
Configuration and testing of monitoring software such as Cisco Prime, SolarWinds, Cisco Wireless Control (WCS) and Network Flow Analysis (NFA)
Experience with troubleshooting Cisco 5500 series ASA firewall and configuration of NAT rules
Experience with troubleshooting of Cisco 6500, 4500, 3700 and 2900 series switches
Experience with troubleshooting of Cisco 2600 and 7200 series routers
Experience with LAN-to-LAN VPN: crypto maps, access-lists, and route statements in a hub/spoke topology
Configuration and troubleshooting of routing protocols: EIGRP and static routing
Configuration of VLAN: STP, switch port access, 802.1q, and ISL trunking
Experience with geospatial or eGIS solutions
Linux system administration skills
Basic knowledge of troubleshooting of Network Access Control (NAC), IP Management, DNS/DHCP Appliances
Utilize and configure: SSH, Telnet, SNMP
Knowledge of packet capturing utilization Cisco devices and third party software
Detailed understanding of the OSI and Cisco Internetworking models
DEA Suitability is highly desired.
Experience with resolving WAN and LAN connectivity issues. This includes international WAN connections through multiple providers and agencies with encapsulation.
Experience with AT&T JUTNet and DTSPO service providers
Basic knowledge of Netflow
Basic knowledge of COS/QOS
Linux and windows system administration skills
Wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n knowledge
