System Administrator

Description

System Administratorwill provide system administration and support services for U.S. Coast Guard, Command, Control, and Communication Engineering Center (C3CEN) including but not limited to the:

  • Management of C3CEN’s Commercial Internet Distribution Network (CIDN) which consists of configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting a network of one Cisco Router and 17 Network switches that supports C3CEN’s Command Center, Product Lines, Core Technologies, and Command Logistics systems.

  • Work with remote sites (Command Detachments) to establish and maintain static VPN’s connectivity with the CIDN WAN.

  • Perform diagnostic testing between network components and provide metrics when needed

  • Worked with NAIS (Nationwide Automatic Identification Systems) system administrator to stand up and support a dynamic VPN service for the NAIS Team through C3CEN CIDN (Commercial Internet Distribution Network)

  • Maintenance of computer network components e.g., cables, cables runs, fiber optics, switches and routers, isolates system and hardware deficiencies impacting LAN/WAN. Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot hardware.

  • Manage, track, and maintain a list of approximately 372 MS Visio and Project Pro software licenses through C3CEN’s Portal Software Request Tracker Page. Also,assist user(s) with software waiver request via the US Coast Guard’s IT/CCB (Information Technology Infrastructure Configuration Control Board) for software that is not included with the USCG standard workstation III image.

  • Provide feedback on the installations of the non-standard software to the customer(s).

  • Recommend configuration changes and upgrades.

  • Manage C3CEN Command Share(s); set groups permissions on the folders; create, delete, and move folders on base of command needs; run metrics on server load & storage capacity, identify and correct deficiencies.

  • System testing and support as required and updates and maintains documentation for daily, weekly and monthly tasks.

  • Management of approximately 137 security and distribution groups for the C3CEN command

  • Provide training on use of Standard Workstation to command user(s); included working with Shared Services to stand up and maintain online repository available to the command users which would need creation and maintenance and a list of how to’s.

  • Work with the Command Security Officer (CSO) and the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to maintain physical and network security.

  • Work with users to troubleshoot Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) problems

  • Installation, removal, and relocation of equipment and peripherals.

  • Assist with local technical support such the Electronic Support Detachment (ESD) and District 5 Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology (C4IT) services.

  • Perform other duties as assignedwhich includes serving as Subject Matter and Technical Expert related to project management

  • Assist with Audio and Video equipment for command functions such as All-hands

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires 2 to 4 years of System Administration

  • CompTIA Security Certification (must have)

  • Active Secret ClearanceDesired Qualifications:

  • Prior USCG C4IT experience

  • Network Management of Routers, Switches and Storage Arrays
