The Instructional Designer will support the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative contract vis-à-vis Lockwood Hills, LLC. The ADL Initiative was founded in 1999 and conducts research, development, testing and evaluation to enhance distributed learning across the US federal government. The ADL Initiative engages in thought leadership to help craft the vision of future learning science and technology, innovate research and development (R&D) to mature emerging concepts, coordinate related efforts with stakeholders across government, industry and academia, and facilitate transition.

Reporting to the Internal R&D Principal and working collaboratively with the Outreach team, the Instructional Designer will possess the following qualifications. Please read carefully.

As the Instructional Designer, you will be entrusted to perform the following duties:

  • Design and development of “gold standard” distributed learning.

  • Design, development, and delivery of technical workshops and webinars.

  • Authorship of informational publications (e.g., news articles, blog posts, user guides).

  • Perform other duties not outlined above, at the discretion of the ADL Initiative leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Highly-enthusiastic,creative and passionate about producing aesthetically-stunning, cutting-edge instructional content.

  • 5 years of experience in instructional design; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Expert knowledge and experience in instructional design and development.

  • Experience coordinating with DoD, Government, industry, and academic stakeholders.

  • Highly proficient in various instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Action Mapping).

  • Familiarity with learning science and distributed learning technologies (e.g., xAPI).

  • Demonstrated experience developing instructor-led (both classroom and virtual) and self-paced eLearning courseware, online tutorials and print-based materials.

  • Acute attention to detail.

  • Positive, dedicated team player who requires minimal supervision to complete tasks.

  • Thirst for knowledge and always willing to learn and assist colleagues.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Government and industry working groups and communities of practice.

- Bachelor's or higher degree in instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning or equivalent program is desired.

- Demonstrated technical and/or academic writing capabilities.
