This key FP&A position will support the corporate budgeting and rolling forecast process under the direction of the Sr. Director of Financial Operations for Akima, LLC which includes 47 subsidiaries. This key role will maintain an environment of sound financial and system controls in support of the annual budgeting, cost pool set-up and maintenance, monthly financial reporting and rolling forecast process.This is a great opportunity for a Senior Analyst to gain considerable exposure to the overall financial data model at Akima, LLC, from financial structure set-up to end-user Financial Reporting deliverables.

Deliverables include:

  • Monthly/Quarterly Financial Reporting to Executive Team

  • Annual Plan Consolidation

  • Monthly Reconciliation of Cost pool allocations, Project vs Ledger Tables and SIE vs TB

  • Under direction, maintenance/configuration of CostPoint financial structures (General ledger accounts, Orgs, Pool Allocations and Financial Statements)

  • Provides hands-on ad hoc financial modeling support for a variety of assignments and have a quick grasp of new business environments.

Qualifications

He or she must have proven expertise with CostPoint and Cognos financial products and the ability to communicate and demonstrate their technical and functional experiences relative to the best methods for successful reporting and analysis of Financial Data to many users across the enterprise.

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of Financial Operations and how it supports the business at large

  • Takes pride in responsibly delivering quality products on-time and solving business problems creatively

  • Working experience and knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards and FAR

  • Experience with Time and Materials (T&M), Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Plus Firm Fixed (CPFF) and Cost Plus Award Fee (CPAF) contracts

  • Working knowledge in the following areas: Indirect Rates, Pools and Bases, and allocation of costs from Home Office Segments and Intermediate Cost Pools

  • Strong knowledge of Deltek Costpoint and Cognos

  • Advanced Excel skills including the use of pivot tables and charts, vlookups, conditional statements, linking, advanced formulas, data queries and macros.

  • Familiarity with Word and PowerPoint

  • Excellent data management skills, including data mining, queries and knowledge of report writing

  • Significant experience with developing financial and operational models to support planning process, cost allocation metrics and financial results

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Must be a self-starter with high levels of motivation who can independently develop ways troubleshoot and reconcile various Financial metric via Cognos and CostPoint data analysis

  • Analytical ability to interpret financial data, solve complex accounting problems, and advance the development and use of analytical tools and methodologies for cost/profitability analysis

  • Highly detail-oriented with ability to follow through each task to its completion. This includes ability to digest large quantities of data in order to verify accuracy of Financial Reporting, Cost Pool Allocations, and Financial Statement Presentation

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; highly energetic and able to thrive under pressure

  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively across functional departments

  • Experience working and thinking creatively in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and demanding deadlines

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 yrs. experience working with Deltek Costpoint Core modules.

  • 3 Plus yrs. experience using Cognos Query Studio and Report Studio.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related discipline.

  • Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; highly energetic and able to thrive under pressure

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across functional departments.

  • Experience working and thinking creatively in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and demanding deadlines.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Must be adept at analyzing large/complex data sets.

  • Must demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Must be able to Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to work independently and efficiently in a medium/high stress environment.

  • Must understand the nature of the government contracting industry, and communicate within it effectively.

  • Must have the interest and willingness to dive-in and become subject matter expert on the financial data model.
