NANA Regional Corporation Safety Coordinator/Officer in Greenbelt, Maryland
Function as the site Safety Coordinator / Officer for a facilities operations and maintenance services contract that oversees critical operations at a NASA facility 24/7.
Write technical reports, policy & procedure, and directives
Assess risk exposure using industry accepted sampling & monitoring techniques
Proactively identify health, safety, and environmental hazards and implement effective controls to minimize risks.
Conduct inspections of departments to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures. Document inspection findings and implement effective corrective actions.
Interface with subcontractors on matters related to Environmental, Health and Safety.
Generate and submit reports related to health, safety, and environmental metrics and systems as required by management or regulation.
Utilize incident reporting and other health, safety, and environmental systems as required by the Company.
Other duties as assigned.
BA degree in related field or equivalent with HAZWOPER certification (minimum 24 hour) or the ability to obtain upon hiring.
A minimum of three years’ experience in safety, health, and environmental programs.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state safety regulations
Ability to use electronic technology and applications
Experience with AR 385-10 and other DA safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Experience with ISO 14001 compliance
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is generally conducted in an office or shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work may require light lifting up to 50lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Must be able to differentiate the nature of objects by color and communicate through written and telecommunication equipment. Employee use of PPE is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must be in excellent physical condition. Must comply with all applicable regulations and published Company work rules. May be required to work outside of normal business hours, such as nights, weekends and holidays, or during adverse weather events, under pressure and strenuous conditions.
