Senior Piping Designer

Description

Summary: Applies engineering principles to design, modify or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment or processes used in processing or manufacturing products by performing the following duties.

  • Supports the creation of man-hour estimates for new projects and manage changes to existing projects with scope modifications.

  • Interprets and applies codes, procedures, standards and specifications to accurately and efficiently produce designs which conform to applicable codes and specifications.

  • Interprets complex vendor data or drawings for conformance with project requirements and initiates resolution of any problems.

  • Accurately develops material takeoffs and estimates.

  • Proficiently operates various AutoCAD 2012 or later systems ( Bentley/Reebis/Autoplant) for the development of construction packages for industrial projects.

  • Consistently demonstrates example skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, handling a client’s changing needs, communications, operational efficiencies, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.

  • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.

  • Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors.

  • Provides information to those in field construction. Provides accurate technical advice and training to others. Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.

  • Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry. Checks various designs, diagrams, drawings, etc. for compliance with applicable codes and specifications. Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposal, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

  • Designs fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design, client specifications and optimum utilization of machines and equipment.

  • Designs field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. Competency:

Qualifications

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education/Experience r equired:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college in Engineering Technology or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in Mechanical Piping/Design.

  • Highly experienced with Bentley AutoPIPE and Bentley ISOGEN.

  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in Petrochemical/O&G Industry.

  • North Slope experience.

  • EDDI Experience.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good working knowledge of MS Word; MS Excel.

  • The candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later systems and (Bentley/Autoplant) design software.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, client or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good working knowledge of MS Word; MS Excel. The candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later systems and (Bentley/Autoplant) design software.

Certificates and Licenses: No certifications required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, although the individual may provide work direction to Drafters and less senior Designers.
