Summary

This positioncarries out those activities required to maintain and correct damage and makerepairs to physical buildings, structures, and facilities as well maintenance,and repair of machinery, equipment, and cleaning equipment of assignedfacilities. Additionally, this person will do a variety of work involvingequipment use such as scissor lifts and necessitate regularly working fromladders, and may also be responsible for some minor electrical repair work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test, andmaintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, andfixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using testequipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct theproblem.

  • Connect wires to circuitbreakers, transformers, or other components.

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards,defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance withcodes.

  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

  • Test electrical systems andcontinuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, usingtesting devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensurecompatibility and safety of system.

  • Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meetgovernmental regulations.

  • Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures,based on job specifications and local codes.

  • Carries out the additional dutiesof all around facilities maintenance worker,as an example,some other duties and responsibilities this position may require are asfollows:

  • Repairs ormaintain damage to walls and flooring

  • Repairs door,locks and exit hardware

  • Minor PlumbingRepairs

  • Repairsconveyor belts and systems

  • Hanging Cabinets,fixtures,

  • Drywallinstallation/repairs, painting

  • Carpet/ Carpettile installation/repair

  • Concreteinstallation/repair

  • Cleans workarea, tools, and equipment.

  • Regular dayshift, M-F but position may involve on call, night, weekend work or emergencycall outs on an as needed basis.

  • Escorts and/orassists other Subcontractors/Facilities Techs, regardless of skill set/trade,to include but not limited to HVAC, Electrician, Plumber, and any othersubcontractor working in our facilities.

  • This positionmay require approximately 25% travel out of Anchorage area to remote sites,however, depending on client needs/requests, technician could be required totravel more often.May be required totravel within hours of client request to any site throughout the State ofAlaska.

  • Must bewilling and able to fly on small aircraft to said remote sites.

  • Must be ableto work well with others as directed and be a team player.

  • Able to workindependently and prioritize workload.

  • Must be ableand have some experience to assume a Supervisory role and/or job site leadtechnician.

  • This position is responsible for thesupervision of staff as needed.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to thedepartment or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

MinimumRequirements

  • A high school diploma or GEDequivalent.

  • 5 years of directly relatedFacilities and/or Building Maintenance experience with Electrical experience.

  • Valid Driver's License with 3 yrs.clean driving record to be qualified to drive under the NMS insurance companypolicy.

  • Must be fluent in speaking,reading, and writing English.

WorkingConditions and Physical Requirements

Weather:Indoor/Outdoor – occasionalexposure to harsh weather conditions; requires work to be done both inside andoutside.

Noise level:The noise level in thework environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment:Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally liftand/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, usehands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl,talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employee may travel upto 25% of the time throughout Alaska and/or remote locations and may berequired to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limitedto snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
