Job Summary:

Supervises activities and personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of grounds and landscaping surfaced areas, bridges, demolition, and Insert Landfill Operations, provides general direction for the Installation Pest Control Operations, and directs hazardous material spill response team activities

Essential Functions:

  • Performs grounds and surfaced area inspections, and submits reports.

  • Implements the Installation Soil Erosion Program and identifies erosion areas to be included for repair/maintenance.

  • Serves as the Installation hazardous material Spill Response Team Leader.

  • Provides input to Annual Work Management Plan as well as Installation Natural Resources Management Plan.

  • Coordinates Landfill operations ensuring compliance with Georgia Department of Natural Resources regulations and applicable Federal regulations.

  • Ensures Pest Control Operation are in accordance with the Installation Integrated Pest Management Plan, applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.

  • Coordinates land management services, ensures operations are in accordance with applicable provisions of federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.

  • Reviews technical papers, catalogs and other reference materials to recommend new maintenance methods to improve operations.

  • Conducts safety meetings and enforces proper safety procedures.

There are a number of duties and responsibilities that are common to most personnel in a supervisory position, such as:

1.Plan and schedule the work of a section, department or organization for maximum effective utilization of employees, equipment and material within budgetary, cost and quality standards.

2.Estimate manpower requirements.Requisition and select qualified employees necessary to perform work.

3.Assign employees to jobs.Instruct them in proper performance of work and familiarizes them with company rules and regulations.

4.Maintain discipline of employees under their supervision in accordance with established rules and regulations.Initiate appropriate disciplinary action.

5.Assume responsibility for the proper application of established employee relations, wage and salary policies, safety and health regulations.

6.Initiates action and recommends promotions, merit increases, transfers, leaves of absence and other personnel changes.

7.Coordinate the functions performed under his/her supervision with those performed under other supervision.

8.Arranges for proper maintenance of machines, equipment and facilities for which the work unit is responsible.

9.Prepares reports concerning department budget and activities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience. Two years of additional supervisory experience in related field may be substituted for each year of education

EXPERIENCE: Four years of experience in maintenance of grounds and surfaced areas.

SKILLS: Ability to understand lawn maintenance techniques, equipment operation, and road surface repair. Knowledge and ability in computer applications.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Hazardous Material Technician

State Driver’s License

Must possess or be able to receive clearance for access to material up to and including SECRET and pass a National Agency Check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor Degree in Horticulture.

Eight years of experience in related field including three at the supervisory level.
