POSITION SUMMARY:

The Exchange Systems Engineer II is primarily responsible for providing the day-to-day maintenance of the theater exchange mail services. Reports directly to the Systems Operations Section Lead.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  1. Responsible for inter-forest connection agreements, routing for all theater Exchange organization sites.

  2. Maintains all site Exchange bridgehead server configurations.

  3. Provides Tier III Exchange troubleshooting and problem resolution; maintain email security settings, mailbox management, repair of failed or corrupted exchange servers.

  4. Determines proper maintenance intervals and capacity planning and storage requirements.

  5. Responsible for assisting the AD Systems Administrators with all the required AD support.

  6. Provides Tier III Exchange troubleshooting and problem resolution; maintain email security settings, mailbox management, repair of failed or corrupted exchange servers.

  7. Provides troubleshooting support for critical Exchange and core AD servers in support of the Southwest Asia Cyber Center (SWACC) O&M responsibilities.

  8. Performs necessary hands-on maintenance of Exchange and AD assets.

  9. Provides services needed according to local and higher Headquarters guidance.

  10. Detects, reports, and mitigates physical security compromises of any system according to established guidance, policy, and regulation.

  11. Exchange Engineers must also possess understanding of LYNC Server 2010 and Forefront Identify Manager 2010 pertaining to GALSYNC.

  12. Job responsibilities also include executing various Exchange PowerShell commands and PowerShell scripts to perform administrative tasks. Knowledge of PowerShell is a must.

  13. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (IT) or related field.

Experience: At least three (3) years of practical experience working with Windows 2008/2012 Server, Active Directory and Exchange Server 2010 or higher. Must have an advanced understanding of Active Directory design, configuration and administration. Candidate must possess an exceptional understanding of Enterprise Messaging principles and their application within an Active Directory Environment.

Certifications: This position requires candidates to adhere to DoD 8570.01-M. All candidates are required to maintain at least one (1) baseline certification and one (1) computing environment (CE) certification. The authorized certifications for this job title are listed as follows:

IAT Level: IAT III

Baseline: CASP, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GSEC, GCED, GCIH

  • MCITP Enterprise Administrator: Windows Server 2008

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  1. Candidate must be able to lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs.

  2. The work environment will be 95% indoor and 5% outdoor. The outdoor work environment may exceed temperatures 100º F. Candidate must be able to physically withstand extreme heat.
