Five Rivers Services, LLC (FRS) provides full-spectrum communications, information technology (IT), network operations, video teleconferencing (VTC), audiovisual, multimedia, and command, control, communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) services and solutions to Department of Defense, Federal Government agencies, and the commercial sector. Currently, FRS operates in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Djibouti, and several continental U.S. locations.


The Network Controller provides monitoring and support of core enterprise systems/services. Conducts basic troubleshooting of incidents and requests reported to the Regional Cyber Center – Southwest Asia (RCC-SWA). Responsibilities include initial assessment, triage, research, and resolution of incidents and requests regarding the use of services. The Network Controller also records, reports and monitors outages of Defense Information Systems Agency Infrastructure (DII) facilities, both scheduled and unscheduled. Interprets network topology and identify Hazardous Conditions (HAZCON) within the South West Asia AOR. The Network Controller possesses a working knowledge of relevant DISA reporting and procedural guidelines and regulations. The Network Controller is responsible for ownership of Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) tickets from creation/receipt until resolution, confirmation and closure once escalated to the RCC-SWA while keeping the affected customer informed of the progress.


  • Act as a single point of contact for all technical and non-technical related phone calls and tickets regarding ITSM incidents and requests.

  • Clearly document and manage all incoming telephone calls, request and actions taken to support internal staff and external customers via a RCC-SWA ARC’s Master Station Log (DA 1594).

  • Clearly document all activities that occur during the working shift that affects Network Operations; i.e. outages, Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI), HAZCONs, receipt of Tasking Orders and Network Tasking Orders.

  • Act as single POC interfacing with all Technical Control Facilities (TCF)/Network Operational Centers (NOC) to manage, monitor and maintain situational awareness of all ASIs under the RCC- SWA responsibility.

  • Direct and assist the TCF in troubleshooting strategic communications links, trunks and circuits.

  • Utilize various management tools to track and monitor daily operations including, BMC Remedy (ITSM), Facility Circuit Information Tracking (FaCIT) application, Master Station Log (MSL), Email.

  • Provide outage and HAZCON details the higher headquarters

  • Facilitate problem resolution by monitoring/reviewing tickets, gathering additional information, and updating tickets throughout the resolution process to provide the customer with feedback and/or resolution information.

  • Provide technical assistance and advise RCC-SWA Watch Officers on courses of action pertaining to communications issues

  • Oversee development and standardizing current common practices and procedures, monitoring and notifications of outage reporting in accordance with RCC-SWA policy and procedures

  • Analyze and troubleshoot networks to include network security policies and procedures, network performance tuning and trend analysis

  • Escalate unresolved issues to other work centers within the RCC-SWA

  • Arrange for external technical support when problems cannot be resolved internally

  • Maintain a high degree of customer service during all support interactions and adhere to all service management principles

  • Create, modify and delete user and computer objects in Microsoft Windows Active Directory

  • Create, modify and delete groups in Microsoft Windows Active Directory

  • Provision user Enterprise email accounts utilizing the DISA Enterprise Provisioning Online (DEPO) portal

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned


  • Candidate must be able to lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs.

  • The work environment will be 95% indoor and 5% outdoor. The outdoor work environment may exceed temperatures 100F. Candidate must be able to physically withstand extreme heat.



Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma


  • Self-motivated achiever who gains satisfaction from providing excellent customer service.

  • Ability to work closely with others often under high pressure.

  • A basic understanding of ITIL principles.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills.

  • 2 years IT experience, preferably in a Network Operations environment.

  • An understanding of basic Active Directory administration tasks.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft-based operating systems with an emphasis on Windows 7.

  • Experience with using and troubleshooting Enterprise Email issues in a dynamic network environment


This position requires candidates to adhere to DoD 8570.01-M.All candidates are required to maintain at least one (1) baseline certification and one (1) computing environment (CE) certification. The authorized certifications for this job title are listed as follows:

  • IAT Level:IAT II

  • Baseline: CASP, CCNA Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GSEC, GCED, GCIH, Security ce, SSCP

  • CE: MCITP Server Administrator: Windows Server 2008, MCITP Enterprise Administrator: Windows Server 2008, MCITP Virtualization Administrator Windows Server 2008 R2, MCSA Windows Server 2008, MCSA Windows Server 2012, MCSE Desktop Infrastructure 2012, MCSE Server Infrastructure 2012, MCSE Private Cloud 2012, Server , VCP 4, VCP 5, CCNA Note: one year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
