The illustrator will provide support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) Multimedia and Visualization Branch. They will provide conception, planning, preparation, and creation of visual materials used to communicate messages through print and electronic media that meet customer requirements. The illustrator will research customer needs, make initial artistic decisions and utilize a variety of software tools to scan, edit, format and prepare material. Individual effort and teamwork in a fast paced environment is necessary. Some overtime may be required



  • Associate’s degree or equivalent education in Fine Arts or Commercial Arts with a minimum of five (5) years of related full-time work experience in graphic arts and technical illustration.

  • Experience producing artist concept renderings, technical illustrations, and graphic designs.

  • Experience selecting and working with various forms of art media, from traditional pen and ink, acrylics, oils, and watercolors to modern digital tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Microsoft Office, as well as various other graphics-related applications.

  • Experience in determining composition, design, and appropriate media to be used in order to depict a broad range of technical concepts in support of scientific and engineering customers.

  • Experience in working with a broad range of applications as mentioned above, as well as the hardware associated with these applications, such as scanners, tablets, large-format printers, photo printers, and color copiers.

  • Position requires the submission of a portfolio demonstrating talent and skills within the discipline.

  • Requires a SECRET level DoD security clearance.


  • Prior experience as a military or Government illustrator.

  • Knowledge of Navy regulatory requirements for official material production.
