This Remote Security Officerposition provides a variety of typical security services. All SecurityOfficers, regardless of position assignment, must be capable of performing allEssential Duties and Responsibilities including:

  • Personally monitors and patrols either visually or electronically a variety of assigned buildings, areas, or grounds.

  • Permits only properly authorized individuals to enter the property.

  • Patrols premises and Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.

  • Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc.

  • Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.

  • Notifies on-site individuals of visitors wishing to see them.

  • Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property.

  • Operates camp billeting and access control systems and maintain a list of visitors or authorized companies/personnel who are allowed access to various areas.

  • May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational.

  • Provides transportation services using a variety of vehicles ranging from standard passenger vehicles to large passenger buses and off-road vehicles

  • Provides emergency medical intervention including CPR, AED and patient movement.

  • Other related duties may also be assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • 3-year full time Professional Security, Law Enforcement or Military experience.

  • Post-secondary education in a related field may be substituted for experience.

  • Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or capable of obtaining First Aid/CPR certification

  • Must have Intermediate computer skills, depending on needs of the assignment.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment requirements, dependent on contract/company requirements which may include but are not limited to: hair follicle or urinalysis drug test, functional capacity evaluation or fit for duty physical assessment, hearing test.

  • Good written, oral communications, and human relations skill.

  • Must be fluent; written and oral, in the English language.

  • Must have a telephone and reliable transportation.

  • Must be able to travel in all means of air and ground transportation commonly used in remote Alaska.

  • Must be able to work a physical job in a remote site for 12 hours a day/7 days a week. Schedules may vary.

  • Must be able to pass 10 year background check.

  • Must obtain a valid State of Alaska Security Guard license upon hire.

  • Must have Handgun handling experience which would allow the candidate to pass a Law Enforcement style qualification.

  • May be required to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and air brake endorsements within 180 days of employment.

  • Must be able to pass and maintain a current DOT Physical for CDL drivers.

  • Provide proof of an acceptable driving record for the past five (5) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

  • Must be able to live in dormitory style living quarters.

Physical Demands:

All Remote Security Officers must becapable emergency responders to a myriad of events and circumstances. The employee must be able to satisfactorilycomplete NMS and/or client-required physical standards such as the NMS Fit forDuty (FFD) testing. Remote SecurityOfficers must be able to perform all essential functions in extreme weatherconditions including freezing temperatures, high winds, low visibility, unevenwalking surfaces that include tundra, ice and snow.

The employee must be able to pass theFFD test after preliminary job offer but prior to final onboardingprocess. Additionally, successfulcompletion of the FFD will be required after hiring prior to returning to dutyfrom medical conditions or procedures.

Lift : Lift 20 lbs. from floor to knuckle x 2,(lift from floor to mid to lower thigh)

Lift : Lift 20 lbs. from floor to waist x 2,

Carry: Carry 20 lbs. with two hands for a minimumdistance of 20 feet, self-paced but continuous,

Kneel : Kneel on one knee and stand. Return to kneelon opposite knee. Repeat alternate kneeling sequence x 3 for each knee,self-paced but continuous,

From Supine PositionTest : From a supine,recumbent position, while wearing arctic gear, test recipient must be able tostand without assistance x 3, self-paced (this task must be accomplished safelywithout significant loss of balance or falling and without assistance). Allowone re-test when there is a loss of balance considered unsafe or a fall.)

Stoop & Twist: Perform alternate cross over toe touches x 5each side, self-paced but continuous,

Walk : Walk on a treadmill at 3 MPH for 10 minuteswith good balance

Stairs: Climb up and down 10 steps x 2 for a total of 20steps, self-paced.
