Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customers mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age , and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
The Maintenance and Utility Services Department (MUSD) has openings for Janitors in the Infrastructure Services Division. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will perform routine custodial tasks within the Laboratory. The candidate will interact with co-workers, supervisors, building clients, building and maintenance coordinators, inspectors, and other craft personnel. The selected candidate may be required to work at Site 300. Due to the unique working conditions at Site 300, the General Maintenance Worker must undergo site-specific safety training and adhere to all safety and security requirements. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidiodomycosis). The candidate reports to the Shop First Line Supervisor.
This position may require the Janitor have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.
Provide building cleaning services in various LLNL facilities.
Perform daily routine Custodial tasks which include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms, removing trash from buildings to outside dumpsters.
Apply skills and knowledge of materials, power tools and hand tools applicable to custodial duties such as vacuums, brooms, mops, and cleaning products.
Practice and understand the elements of good customer service, good communication skills and interaction with others.
Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition.
Ensure proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals.
Order and stock supplies.
Assist other areas as needed, and operate motor vehicles.
Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Must be able to work a variety of custodial assignments in all types of office and laboratory environments, including inside and outside of buildings.
Must have experience and training in commercial/industrial building cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, removing trash and sanitizing restrooms.
Ability to meet physical requirements of the position.
Must be familiar and able to utilize and operate all equipment and cleaning chemicals associated with custodial work.
Must be flexible and willing to accept change of assignment, start times, shift or additional duties.
Demonstrated customer service skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a team member, interfacing well with others.
Demonstrated ability to read and write in English.
Basic computer skills.
Basic knowledge of ES&H laws and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to work on one’s feet most of the workday, walking up and down stairs and inclines.
Demonstrated ability to bend, stoop and reach overhead frequently.
Must be able to lift 20-30 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. using the proper personal protective equipment, and team lifting techniques.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Ability to work scheduled as well as emergency overtime work.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
Ability to work at Site 300.
Ability to complete HS0096-W, Valley Fever - .5 hour (a web based training course or its equivalent) post hire before starting work at Site 300.
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.
Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (Position will be cleared at this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. If you hold dual citizenship (U.S. and another country), you will be required to renounce your other citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
