Wolverine Services provides the reliable facilities operations and maintenance, base level logistics, airfield operations, and range operations services that keep military bases and federal agency posts around the country operating at peak efficiency.

We are looking for a Maintenance Carpenter in Kekeha, Kauai.

This position is for a Maintenance Carpenter with the primary responsibility ofgeneral maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of the on-site building, facilities and infrastructure.This person should be a self starter and their tasks shall include:

  • - Working on building structures including: wood/metal sheathed, wood frame, wood/metal sheathed, wood rafters, metal columns, membrane structures, masonry walls with wood roof/metal sheathed, light metal construction, metal buildings, masonry walls with metal roof, masonry walls with poured concrete roof, and concrete poured walls and roofs (including integral, earth-filled revetment).

  • - Foundation designs include: cast-in-place concrete footers or walls, cast-in-place concrete slab-on-grade, treated-wood frame on grade, and combinations thereof.

  • - Flooring construction includes: concrete slab-on-grade, wood deck, metal-plate deck, reinforced-concrete deck, the site launch pads including maintenance of concrete and macadam pads/service aprons, blast deflectors, and base plates.

  • - The Maintenance Carpenter shall support the maintenance mechanical systems including maintenance of: cable trays and poles, building floor finishing, doors, windows, vents, trimming, and gutters, fencing (hinges, latches, and signs); monuments (signs), and certain general and preventive maintenance actions on building mechanical equipment (e.g., change vent filters).

As a maintenance carpenter this individual may be asked to repair equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge, but not proficiency, in such trades as painting, plumbing, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties:

  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings

  • Repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures and piping

  • Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery

  • Painting including prep work in exterior and interiors.

  • Additionally, the maintenance carpenter may be requested to dig, fill and tamp earth excavations using a pick, shovel, and tamper; cut concrete slabs or asphalt paved areas, mix appropriate concrete and patch cut sections; cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate cable ways and other duties as assigned using hand tools or powertools. This individual may be required to work in confined spaces and at heights.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent.

  • This person should have diverse capabilities in the areas of concrete work, masonry, rough carpentry, and sheet metal with

  • Five years of applicable experience or training. Journeyman status preferred.

  • Valid drivers license.

  • Must be safety oriented.

  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labor including bending, stooping, reaching, digging, carrying, and lifting heavy objects.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
