The Government Cost Accounting Analyst collaborates with internal and external clients to analyze costs, review costs for allowability, prepare financial reports and as required, provide ad-hoc support and analyses. Internal clients include Project Accountants, Program/Project Managers, operations management and representatives from Accounting & Finance.

The Government Cost Accounting Analyst must exercise judgment and possess strong problem solving skills in performing his/her duties while complying with established policies and procedures. The Government Cost Accounting Analyst has a fiduciary responsibility to involve line management in the event of non-compliance with the Company’s published financial policies and procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position reports to the Akima, LLC Director of Government Contract Accounting Compliance.Government Contract Accounting Compliance is a staff department reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and has responsibility for ensuring compliance of Akima, LLC’s accounting and estimating systems with FAR and DFARS cost principles and applicable cost accounting standards (CAS).The specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Perform cost analysis using excel spreadsheets and functions

  • Support government reporting

  • Perform internal reviews of cost charging

  • Perform additional analysis as assigned

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish a business relationship with internal and external customers. Provide guidance and support to facilitate accurate and timely financial analysis.

  • Compare actual project expenses against contract terms and conditions and the Federal Acquisition Regulations for accuracy (POP, funding, billing rates, labor categories, un-allowable expenses). Identify errors and issues (incorrect project set ups, misclassified expenses).

  • Support the completion of the Annual Incurred Cost Submission

  • Support the preparation and submission of provisional billing rates

  • Provide analysis to support DCAA audits

  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s financial policies and procedure.

  • Continually assess ongoing processes to identify areas for potential improvement. As required, participate in initiatives to improve processes (i.e. participate in working groups).

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with others and work independently.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Accounting or Finance is required. BS in Accounting preferred.
