Akima Intra-Dataprovides support services to the federal and civilian agencies of the U.S Government as well as commercial organizations. Our core competencies include training and training system development, data and records management, information technology, administrative support, facilities operations and management, and base operations support services.

Summary

The position will support a wide variety of environmental compliance and project execution requirements under the following technical areas: Air Quality and Clean Air Act Compliance, Safe Drinking Water Act Compliance, Clean Water Act Compliance (both Storm Water and Wastewater), Waste Management, Storage Tank and Assets Compliance, Spill Preparedness and Planning Compliance, Sustainability Work, Lead Based Paint and Asbestos, Environmental Management System and Compliance Auditing Support. The candidate will provide technical support to project managers, crafts personnel and customer environmental management personnel.

Key Responsibilities/Essential functions of the position include:

  • Support, assist, and provide environmental expertise to ensure compliance with regulatory environmental programs.

  • Coordinate and monitor NEPA efforts for project operations on Fort Benning, GA and other operating locations.

  • Coordinate and monitor NEPA efforts that affect project operations.

  • Coordinates conservation of natural resources. Ensures practices that support habitat for rare and endangered species, or migratory birds and that comply with environmental legislation and ensure protection of sensitive resources while supporting the military operations.

  • Promote the importance of pollution prevention management practices or methodologies to minimize the amount of pollution generated during present or future operations and maintenance functions.

  • Provides environmental training to include functionally specific Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling training pursuant to 49 CFR (parts 171-177), 29 CFR, and 40 CFR.

  • Provides direction and oversight of the Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) management program.

  • Provides natural resources training in accordance with the Endangered Species Act and the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of NEPA requirements and legal precedents and related Federal environmental laws and requirements is required.

  • Knowledge of a variety of scientific/engineering/environmental disciplines relevant to environmental impact analyses is highly desired.

  • Knowledge of NEPA compliance procedures, policy and guidance is required.

  • Knowledge of Resource Consultations (such as cultural, terrestrial, marine mammal) in support of NEPA; ability to develop recommendations for mitigation of adverse environmental impacts and/or other measures to avoid confrontation and/or regulatory delays is highly desired.

  • Ability to think independently; excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as customer service skills due to daily interaction with various levels of rank, authority, positions, both military and civilians is highly desired.

  • Must be computer literate, and proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Schedule, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to develop business correspondence such as memos, letters, and email. Must be able to develop spreadsheets, slides and various presentations when needed. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science related field plus a minimum of five years relevant NEPA experience is required.
