Position Summary:

The General Clerk follows clearly detailed procedures in performing simple repetitive tasks in the same sequence. Responsibilities would include filing pre-coded documents in a chronological file, or operating office equipment, (e.g., mimeograph, photocopy, addressograph or mailing machine).

This position requires familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. The General Clerk selects appropriate methods from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantive guides and manuals. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the task. Recognized problems are referred to others.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  1. Performs customer support functions, those processes used to support the total requirement of customers to gain OCIE equipment.

  2. Operates and manages the ISM-CIF system in performing OCIE Issues and Soldier OCIE record management. Selects stock in quantities indicated by reports and places stock in appropriate temporary or permanent storage locations, according to specific oral or written instructions and established methods.

  3. Operates and manages the ISM-CIF system in performing OCIE Turn-ins, and Soldier OCIE record management. Makes proper notations as to receipts overages or shortages. Places stock in appropriate temporary or permanent storage locations, according to specific oral or written instructions and established methods.

  4. Operate and manage the ISM-CIF system in performing receipt, storage, issue, Soldier OCIE record management, and property accountability:

A. Packs, unpacks, sorts, stacks, warehouses, bins and moves items. Makes in-

storage checks for obvious needs for maintenance and damage. Locates items

by referring to locator cards; compares identifying information in computers

with documents stock tags, bin markings or box markings.

B. Selects stock in quantities indicated by the document, reports location

discrepancies and damage to supervisor. Assembles picked items and moves

stock to locations.

C. Moves supplies by handcart or other non-mechanized conveyance. Prepares

tally sheet and makes proper notations as to receipts overages or shortages.

Places stock in appropriate temporary or permanent storage locations,

according to specific oral or written instructions and established methods.

5. Uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete

assignments consisting of numerous steps that vary in nature and

sequence. Selects from alternative guides, manuals, or procedures.

Typical duties include: assisting in a variety of administrative matters;

maintaining a wide variety of financial or other records; verifying statistical

reports for accuracy and completeness and handling and adjusting

complaints.

6. May use automated systems to process receipts, inventories and shipments.

7. Unloads conveyances, moves supplies by handcart or other non-mechanized

conveyance.

8. Operates various forklifts and high rise equipment. May operate hand or power

trucks in performing warehousing duties.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

Computer equipment, various software programs, fax and photocopier.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Work is generally conducted in a warehouse environment. Work may require lifting up to 25 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing and prolonged sitting. Safety shoes are required in warehouse. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, and fire regulations and published Company work rules. Must wear steel toe shoes at all times.

FREEDOM TO ACT: Reports to the Lead or Supervisor and functions under

his/her guidance and direction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of automated data

systems and automated data system input required. Requires a thorough

knowledge of an office's work and routine. Must be able to choose

among widely varying methods and procedures to process complex

transactions; select or devise steps necessary to complete assignments.

Experience: One year experience in warehouse functions with some knowledge of

military operations and schedules. Must have good oral and written

communication skills.

Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver’s License.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain a CAC.

Must receive favorable background and drug testing

results.
