Housekeeper I


ASO provides logistics, facilities maintenance and operations, transportation and support services for mission-critical military installations and civilian agencies around the country. Performs entry-level to moderate journeyman level custodial work. Work involves cleaning and caring for the interior spaces of federal government buildings, and maintaining custodial equipment. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition administrative areas, laboratories, public common areas, hallways and corridors, restrooms, and other assigned premises. Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, vacuuming and polishing a variety of floor surfaces, including vinyl and ceramic tile, carpet and wood; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restroom fixtures, stall dividers, doors and floors.

Performs rest room maintenance, replenishing supplies and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate. Cleans, dusts, and disinfects areas such as rest rooms, offices, and other facilities. Cleans office furniture, walls, and floors; and empties trash. Moves office furniture and other items.

Operates vacuum cleaners. May perform minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years’ experience in custodial work.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Knowledge and/or ability to quickly grasp basic cleaning techniques and procedures.

  • Ability to quickly grasp and apply skill in the use of custodial materials and chemicals; and in the operation of custodial equipment such as mop wringers and vacuum cleaners.

  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak English.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend and reach to long periods of time and lift 50 pounds.
