GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Roving Trainer will rotate in and out of Utqiaġvik, AK on an alternating schedule with a second Roving Trainer. This position will report directly to the Project Manager.

The objective of this work is to develop and execute a training program to train and assist in the certification of North Slope Borough water and sewer operators in each village. The Roving Trainer will work with the Training Program Administrator to identify the training programs most needed to address deficiencies in operator training and certifications. The Roving Trainer will travel to each village and provide on-site and hands-on training to meet those deficiencies and prepare operators for certification testing.

The primary responsibility of this position is as a trainer, but additional responsibilities will be required as follows:

Track compliance requirements for the water and sewer utility systems in all seven villages. Prepare Water Quality Reports, Discharge Monitoring Reports, Permit Extensions, and other forms necessary in a timely manner to maintain compliance with State regulations. A Utility Engineer will be available to assist with this responsibility.

While in each village, the Roving Trainer will be expected to assess personnel, equipment, and operations and submit a written and oral report to the North Slope Borough Division Manager on performance and system needs.

This position is based in Utqiaġvik, but will require routine travel to the villages. Excellent communication skills, a solution-focused attitude, and a professional demeanor will be critical for success in this position. The maintenance of successful working relationships with NSB Water/Sewer Division personnel is essential.
