AFM provides facilities support for multi-facility campuses,research laboratories, highly secure government facilities, and officebuildings. From basic custodial services to highly specialized operationsservices, AFM combines proven experience with innovative approaches to handlethe details of facility maintenance – allowing our clients to focus on theirmissions.

Under general supervision, installs, services and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical, gas and steam-operated household or commercial appliances, using hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacture's specifications.

Essential Functions:

1.Connects appliance to power source and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter.Observes reading on meters and graphic recorders.

2.Examines appliance during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts.Disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts.

3.Traces electrical circuits, following diagram and locates shorts and grounds, using ohmmeter.Calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact points.

4.Cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust.Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring.Repairs and adjusts appliance motors.

5.Reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools and lubricating equipment.

Marginal Functions:

1.Performs other related duties as required

2.Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures

Qualifications

  • Four years' experience in kitchen equipment/appliance repair.

  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a military driver's license within 30 days.

Must be able to read and comprehend all documentation pertaining to job performance, i.e., technical manuals, specifications, Department of the Army pamphlets and regulations.Must be able to complete all required information on prescribed maintenance forms.
