The Lead Catering Attendant is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties typically found in a catering department.
Performs a wide variety of basic duties while filling in for others, responding to and handling special workload requirements, projects, or events.
Must be able to load required catering equipement and food into vehicles for transport, unload, set up and pick up for the events both on and off the ANMC campus.
Caterings are delivered year round. Person must be able to deliver same high quality service even in extreme cold.
This position may be required to work some holidays.
Must be available to work variable shifts Monday – Sunday and possible split shifts. Hours may vary from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Must be able to read and interpret Event Forms and Pull Sheets.
Must have excellent communication skills and customer service.
May clean and maintain various areas, delivery vehicles and equipment.
Wear proper professional clothes or uniform at all times as specified in the employee handbook.
Makes sure various food or drink items for functions are stocked at appropriate levels.
May ladle soup, toss salads, portion pies and desserts, etc.
Inventories and organizes all catering equipment and small wares.
Responsible for tracking of all small wares that require hand washing.
Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, display cases, serving lines, etc.
Actively supports and participates in performance improvement activities.
Assists co workers during staffing shortages.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Management Team.
Other related duties may also be assigned.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Alaska Food Workers Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
Two (2) years of work experience in Catering or a Food Service related position.
A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
VACCINATIONS (must provide prior to first day of work):
Proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox), TB, and any other immunizations and screenings designated in the current ANTHC Employee Health Program for Infection Control in Hospital Personnel.
Annual flu vaccination documentation to Contractor.
Contractor may be required to maintain all employee health records on site.
One (1) year of cafeteria dining or healthcare experience.
Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
Must be able to perform each of the essential duties listed above with a professional degree of competency.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Certain positions may require the employee to have the physical stamina to work long hours every day for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
