Food Service Worker /Pantry - API

The Food Service Worker/Pantry position is responsible for preparing food for patients, cooks, cafeteria, and hospital staff. Cleaning work areas as related to the preparation and serving of food.


  • Prepares food as indicated by par level sheets and in accordance with both Nutritional Services and Health Department standards.

  • Follows standardized recipes to meet nutritional needs.

  • Follows preparation sheets and build cards or recipes

  • Follows all portion control standards

  • Food prep for retail, patient services, cooks and catering.

  • Preparing cold food items.

  • Plating of food for delivery to units.

  • Following dietary restrictions when serving.

  • Adheres to all sanitation regulations set by Federal, State, and local municipalities.

  • Cleaning duties and other job tasks as assigned.



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • At least one (1) year of work experience or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate a knowledge of cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes or a suitability for this type of work.

  • Alaska Food Workers Card or Servsafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of employment.

  • Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.

  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.


  • Two (2) years of work experience in the food service industry.

  • Certain position(s) require a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Certain positions may require the employee to have the physical stamina to work long hours every day for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
